  • What is Baselayr?

Baselayr makes emulsion simple. With three emulsions to choose from, screen printers can select the one that’ll work best in their shop. Each emulsion will serve different ink types, auto or manual presses, different exposure units, and printers with varying levels of screen print knowledge.
Baselayr is a series of emulsions.  Emulsion is the foundation in screen printing. You need to LAY down a good BASE of emulsion to build a solid print.  WHY IS THERE A NEW EMULSION LINE? Before Baselayr, ScreenPrinting.com offered more than 13 emulsions. Choosing between a ton of emulsions can be confusing. How do you

    Hi Jwedman,
    I'm new to the forum.
I'm having problems with my exposure/emulsion and I am at my wits end. I am using speedball diazo emulsion on a 300 mesh screen with a small Rayonet exposure unit (16x20, 2 UV bulbs). The stencil is halftone dots, and each time I expose the screen, most of the dots won't wash out, but the stencil begins to break down and the image washes away in the darker areas of the stencil. It seems like it is under exposed and over exposed at the same time. The stencil is a digital printout, and I have used the same stencils for photography enlargements, so I think the stencil should be opaque enough. I ran a exposure step test to make sure my times were correct, and I am using low pressure spray to wash out. Any suggestions? Thanks!
